After Ailor departed, Riese returned to prepping the tasting room for a hopefully average day. A few minutes later, Syrah returned, carrying her bright blossom plant. Busy updating the chalkboard with the last day deals for her three-day-weekend sales, Riese barely glanced up.
Syrah paused in the middle of the tasting room. “Where did Mr. Ailor go?”

“But I wanted to show him my babies!” Syrah practically wailed.
“Your what?” Riese’s head snapped up, and her breath left her. The bright blossom was glowing with a good dozen tiny pinpricks of light.
