Saturday, the tape is closed, the important stuff isn’t. Thooooon. GM.
As I’m typing this, Bitcoin is at $62.9K, about $700 above the level that decides everything. Below $62,200 is the line in the sand for more pullback. Krown walked through the whole floor logic there, and I agree with every word of it.
Hold it into Sunday’s weekly close, and the range survives another week; lose it, and $59,500 comes fast.
Let me be straight about the calendar, because the second half of August is where this month historically rolls over. The median August since 2013 is minus 8.5%, nine of thirteen red, and the last four Augusts all closed red. September’s average is worse. Prepare for that possibility, don’t be surprised by it.
But hear the full sentence: short-term bearish bias, SHORT term.
Long term, I’m as bullish as I’ve been all year, and this breakdown explains exactly why. Midterm years average a 20% drawdown that bottoms August through October, and then stocks close higher 12 months after EVERY midterm since 1950. Act one gets the headlines, act two has the perfect record.
The macro is helping, quietly. A September hike is looking unlikely; the odds logic is explained here. Polymarket has it near 25% after retail sales fell 0.6% and consumer sentiment cratered to 51. Soft data kills the hike. Meanwhile, the S&P just printed its third straight weekly gain with gold sitting above $4,400. TradFi is not scared; it’s hedged.
The TradFi tape had one real bomb Friday: Jane Street disclosed a $15 billion July loss tied to the Situational Awareness collapse, per the FT. The AI trade has leverage in places nobody mapped, file it.
Two crypto reads. The ETF tape bled four days of five this week, roughly $388 million net out of Bitcoin, while VanEck went on record saying BTC is approaching a cyclical bottom. And spot volume just hit its lowest level since 2019, per Glassnode. Nobody wants to transact down here. My read: the longer this quiet lasts, the larger the expansion eventually. Compression is stored energy.
One more thing before the list. If we do get the flush, do not get scared and puke at the bottom, listen to Mayne on this. The plan is made BEFORE the candle, not during it.
And since we’re talking levels, Madz is one of the best BTC TA experts I know and a good friend, so I read her Discord TA updates every single day. Her style of analysis is completely different from Krown’s, and it keeps landing on very similar conclusions, which tells you something. Her members’ group is here if you want it.
Regulators next week: the CFTC hosts “Crypto’s Regulatory Evolution” on August 20, with the SEC chair attending. The adults keep showing up.
Yesterday, I said the market has to prove itself before the September open. Still true, and I simply choose to remain optimistic while it tries.

The viral take says Solana DEX liquidity “exploded back to pre-10/10 levels, almost all from memecoins.” I checked the pixels: volume is running ~$1.6B/day, about a quarter of pre-crash, and TVL is roughly a third of October’s peak - not “back.” What IS true, and it’s the interesting part: memecoin venues now ARE the market, PumpSwap alone is 36% of all Solana DEX volume. The casino reopened, the bank didn’t.
