As I’m typing this, Bitcoin is at $65K, mid-range between the $62,500 floor that has now survived six weeks of everything (a war scare, a negative payrolls print, two inflation reports, a full Fed repricing) and the $65,631 ceiling that has never once seen a close above it, five attempts and counting.

Here’s the strange part. Nobody is positioned for ANY move. The VIX just printed its 2026 low at 14.2, Bitcoin’s own vol index sits near its 2026 low around 36, and upside implied vol hit a record 23%, traders have literally never paid less for BTC upside. Compression like this is stored energy. Someone’s going to be very wrong, and soon.
FOMC minutes from the July meeting drop today at 2 pm ET. Three regional presidents voted for a HIKE at that meeting, so the only read that matters is how far the hawk camp extends beyond them. I don’t expect fireworks; a September hike is priced well under a coin flip, and minutes are old news in a new dress.
Stocks are pulling back a little. The S&P slipped 0.7% for a third straight red day since Thursday’s all-time high, the Nasdaq gave 1.3%, semis dropped 5% as a group, and the 30-year yield pushed above 5.3%, its highest since 2007. A breather after records, not a break. So far.
And the news that made me grin: Nasdaq is going 23-hour trading from December 6, Vlad is writing essays about why America must lead on tokenized stocks, and the Hyperliquid Policy Center is pitching pre-IPO perps to regulators in the same week their Unitree market got validated in the most spectacular way possible (AI corner has the numbers, they’re absurd). The entire legacy system is speedrunning toward what crypto already does. Hyperliquid coded, all of it.
One read to carry into the chop: large holders bought about 43,000 BTC worth $2.7 billion over the past 60 days, per Bloomberg. Quiet tape is somebody’s accumulation window.
Monday, I showed you the profitable book flipping. Below the wall today, they did something even more interesting, and it took them 48 hours. Stay patient, don’t force trades within a six-week window, and keep dry powder for day 14, when the 14 coils finally fire.
