Records everywhere except your crypto bags. The S&P 500 closed at an all-time high of 7,736 - and the very same day Michael Burry warned we are “near a major top, and possibly a 1987-type fall.” He is still short Nvidia, Tesla, and Palantir - and Palantir just ripped 29% in a day. Someone is going to be spectacularly wrong here.
As I’m typing this, BTC is at $64.1K. The level that matters: $64.9K - there is a nine-figure reason for that number below - with $62.6K as the support that keeps the week alive. Clear $65K and shorts become the bid. Lose $62.6K, and we flush.
Macro is actually moving: oil collapsed over 5% on reports the US and Iran are close to a Hormuz deal - Bessent says an announcement could come as soon as today. That gutted the September hike bid: Warsh-hike odds slid from ~60% to ~45% and falling.
The Trump administration is refunding $100 billion in tariffs after the Supreme Court ruling, straight onto corporate balance sheets, while China answered the drone restrictions with fresh sanctions on the US.
ISM services prints today, jobs Friday. The CLARITY Act? Punted past the recess. September at best, I guess, who knows at this point right.
And if you want the smartest macro read on my feed - long-end blowout, Bessent pulling levers, oil bear = the bottom setup - this one is worth your five minutes.
TradFi is in full sell-the-news mode: AMD beat on everything and dropped 9% after hours; SpaceX beat on revenue in its first-ever earnings and fell 12% premarket. Meanwhile, Jim Cramer says he is selling his Bitcoin over quantum FUD. CT has never been more unanimous about a bottom signal.
Crypto reads: spot BTC ETFs have not sold a single coin in August - another $170 million in on Monday. And a fresh Ethereum proposal (EIP-8361) aims to progressively BURN validator issuance, as staking is now at a record 34.4% of supply and is simply climbing. LDO dumped on it. Underpriced story.
Fear index at 38 while equities print records. I know which side of that gap I’m accumulating. Eyes open.
