Whom are you searching for, pacing the street?
Those who showed you the path are no more.
Why wander disgraced where the strangers all meet?
Those who looked with such grace are no more.
Though thousands surround you to deal out the pain,
Those who called you their own are no more.
Why sad and defeated, and weeping in vain?
Those who brought you sweet laughter are no more.
Like a desolate wasteland, your heart has grown cold,
Broken up into pieces, no more.
Why forget that the hands which could shape you of old,
And could heal every ache at the core,
Are no more?
You look so helpless and weary today,
Those who lifted you high are no more.
You think you're the same as you once used to stay,
While the hearts that adored you before,
Are no more.
