He looked into my eyes one day,

And with a gentle smile, did say,

"Senorita, oh yes, it's true,

A delicate rose is found in you.

Your eyes possess a radiant gleam,

Like a glowing lamp in a dark night's dream,

And your sweet smile brings forth a ray,

Chasing all despair away."

I smiled back into his eyes so deep,

And said, "Is that all you wish to keep?

In this beauty you praised and sought,

Was it only a surface attraction you caught?

If my eyes shine like a lamp in the night,

Why didn't you see your own reflection's light?

If I am as soft as a rose in spring,

Why didn't you gentle protection bring?

If my smile can kindle a spark of hope,

Why do you leave me with tears to cope?

What kind of senorita am I to you?

Is this love real, or just untrue?"

"Though you see me as fragile and mild,

Inside, I am strong, unbroken, and wild.

In the depths of this senorita's gaze,

You are the dream of all my days…

Whether a vision or reality real,

You are the only one I feel."
