Dear Friends,
You know those times when you’re waiting forever for something to happen, and then it suddenly does happen and you feel shocked? That’s what pub day is like for me. Writing a book takes eons (you know I’m not one of those “writers” using AI to churn out a book a month), then selling it to a publisher, then the pre-publication edit and copyedit and proofread… but somehow the release creeps up on cat feet. It’s not like I didn’t have it circled in red in my calendar. I don’t know how pub day for Every Lie I Told arrived, but it’s finally here!
That includes the release of the audiobook, which is narrated by the stellar Britt Pressley. I wasn’t familiar with her work before my publisher sent me the audition tapes, but I was blown away by hers. Want to hear a sample from her narration? She sounds exactly like Jackie Swift does in my head.
Release day also means let the games begin (as in, let the author out of her writing cage for a couple of weeks). Here are the events I have coming up. Please come see me and my terrific conversation partners!
June 16, Mysterious Bookshop, NYC: I’ll be in conversation with Rob Hart, author of Three Hitman and a Baby, as we launch our new books together
June 17, Murder by the Book, Houston: I’ll be in conversation with Nishita Parekh, author of The Night of the Storm
June 18, Mysterious Galaxy, San Diego: I’ll be in conversation with Matt Coyle, author of the Rick Cahill P.I. series
June 19, Poisoned Pen, Scottsdale: I’ll be in conversation with David Slayton, author of The Silent Paths of Night, as we launch our new books together
June 20, Tattered Cover, Denver: I’ll be in conversation with Linda Joffe Hull, part of the writing duo Linda Keir and author of I Did Not Kill My Husband
June 24th, Bryant Park Author Series: I’ll be appearing with Connor Martin, author of The Silver Fish, and Camille Perri, author of Social Animals; our host will be actress Ilana Levine, who also runs the podcast Little Known Facts with Ilana Levine
June 25th, Ben McNally Books, Toronto: I’ll be in conversation with Kerry Clare, author of Definitely Thriving
Finally, I made a little video for today where I do a one-card tarot pull for the question, “What should I learn from publishing this book?” Believe it or not, the cards gave me a pretty great answer!
Thanks so much for reading,
Hilary
