I can’t think of one person I know who doesn’t have family - or did have family - in the military.
This holiday, though the start of summer for many, is a day to commemorate those who served and gave their lives for ours. It’s a remarkable position, if you stop to think about it. It’s a choice to live a life given to sacrificial living from the day they signed up to the day God took them home.
It’s also a somber reminder to the cousins and second cousins I have who serve in the various military branches that their lives are in jeopardy every day they serve as well.
In a way, this day is for them too.
We remember, we appreciate, and we are thankful for those who sacrificed everything so we could live free. God bless America.
