And here I am again in the kitchen
And there they are doing their thing
And I feel lonely
And I resent the monotony, yet I welcome the space and autonomy
And I want someone to chat about my day with
And ask questions
And laugh with me
And nod their head with understanding
And feel compassion in their heart
And share the funny thing that happened to them today
And laugh with me
And pour me a drink
And take a knife from the drawer and chop some veg
And joke about the missing crockery that sits piled in the kids’ bedrooms
And tell me I’m doing a great job
And look me in the eyes and really see me
And want to be here with me at the end of the day
