mall world, unmarked graves, & a haunted asylum

· late to the party but I recently discovered two girls one ghost and am living for the Appalachian folk superstition stories they share & the deep dive into Mall World, the strange empty mall that is the setting for a lot of people’s dreams. I have seen Mall World, but not in dreams - there’s an empty mall attached to a home goods in slidell, louisiana that is very, very unsettling.

· went for a walk this morning with Han to search for HH Holmes’ unmarked grave, and after much searching and walking in circles & gong ‘is this it?’ in one area, I do believe that we found it. There is a location on Google Maps, but that will lead you to an marker nearby, but thanks to Find a Grave, we found the exact plots - section 15, range 10, lot 41, graves 3 & 4 (that big grassy area behind me)

i had always thought that he was just in a concrete vault beneath that, but it’s even weirder: when he was exhumed in 2017 (a descendant had a history channel series and was trying to prove that he was either a. jack the ripper and/or b. he conned someone into standing in for him at the gallows), they found a concrete filled coffin with no body, and then a secret second coffin beneath it, also filled with concrete. the body was underneath the slab in the lower coffin. because he was encased in concrete, his clothes were still in tact & moustache was still attached to the skull, but the rest of him was liquified & had to be pumped out (gross). the bones were tested, and it was definitely him, but they had no secrets to spill about jack.

· Summer stack, I’ve been expanding my horror horizons entirely because Clint sent me a surprise copy of Victorian Psycho & it was so fun that I signed up for the Night Worms horror book monthly subscription box.

Honorable mention to the Morbidly Curious monthly box that I’ve been receiving the last year, it has delivered some really fantastic titles.

· my film from the paranormal investigation at pennhurst came back in, and i trying very hard to organize my thoughts on it all. it was an extremely active & interactive night, and there is a time slip that happens there when you find yourself alone.

· dyed my hair a very, very pale pink while i transition it to platinum

· what i bought: glitter eyeshadow sticks from half magic & am truly surprised how much i like them, i’ve been wearing the black a lot lately

· having a hard time getting into the garden this season, but it is producing a grip of tomatoes and herbs, along with a few pumpkin vines that I ignored completely for too long and now have their own zip code. Not sure exactly what happened to my enthusiasm, but I suspect that last year’s powdery mildew rendering the entire herb bed un-usable and the honestly stressful amount of tomatoes (there is an amount of tomatoes that passes from bountiful into how did tomatoes turn into a major part of my life and we sailed past it) took a lot of the joy out of it.
