A few weeks ago, I had no water. None. So I called my neighbor, and she didn’t have any either. So then I called the water company. Which admitted to a problem. And I suddenly realized: No shower. No shaving. No coffee. No washing of yesterday’s dishes. And how spoiled I really am.
In more ways than one. As example, I recently was at Monterey’s imposing St. James Church, for a ZEN meeting. And had left my sweater in the kitchen, while washing dishes. But shortly thereafter, the entire building was locked, tighter than a drum. It’s many doors and all. So I came back the next day and there was only one car with only one individual. But he knew how to get in and did and lo and behold, I suddenly had my sweater.
And a few days later, I received two lovely songs, written by Dale Byrne, Carmel’s mayor, with the help of AI. Concerning my blog and I. Songs which were delightful and astonishingly accurate. And embarrassingly charming. But how he did it is beyond me. As the internet and AI are really a foreign tongue. But here is one of the songs, should you be interested.: https://hearthis.at/dale-byrne/walking-my-ways-with-hans/ Including the tantalizing thought: “Life is hiding in the ordinary.” Which it is. And I won’t say I am a star. Even though I sometimes think I am.
And shortly thereafter, I was at Eddie Matsumoto’s and at one of her enticing “Carmel’s Got Talent” events. Which she does every few months. And this was her FIFTH talent show! Part of her monthly and iconic Bohemian Club series. Where I was able to tell one of my short stories. Dealing with a personal problem that occurred to me in High School. Which I had told at the Cherry Foundation, last month. For their Porchlight Short Stories. To considerable acclaim. Then and now. Which stoked me even more. And made me realize how fortunate I am. Every Day! Finis.
