WALKING MY WAYS. Last Tuesday was crazy. First, I had an 8:00 A.M. appointment, at Marina’s VA. For my hearing aids. In their immaculate offices. With plenty of parking and delightful personnel. And where I discovered a small coffee bar. Manned by volunteers, where one got free coffee and cookies, all donated. And, as I came early, I noticed the endless swarm of cars, coming into the Monterey Peninsula. Bumper to bumper. But when I drove home, less than two hours later, the traffic had dissipated and was now only a steady stream of moving traffic.

And once home, I was able to check out the Concours d’Elegance. Which was swarming over downtown Carmel-by the-Sea. A ton of different cars. All enticing. Of every description possible. Some with flamboyant owners. Some with owners in costume, next to their vintage cars. And still others with their owners, trying to explain their vehicles’ worth. While Concours’ aficionados, listened attentively.

And, as Tuesday’s event was called “Concours for a Cause,” it featured both vintage automobiles, and local non-profits. One of the most popular being the Cachagua Volunteer Fire Department, which offered aromatic BBQ beef sandwiches, for only $20.00. With a slogan, “All the meat you can eat.” And had a continuous line of people, waiting, before returning to ogle the beautiful vehicles. I also was taken by the list of the non-profits, which received the revenues. As all the car exhibitors paid a stipend. And, as all the non-profits were very worth while, it was all rewarding.

One of these non-profits was IHELP, which I have mentioned before. Which stands for INTERFAITH HOMELESS EMERGENCY LODGING PROGRAM. A program which helps homeless men and women. And with which I have been involved, for more than 34 years. And who were holding their annual fundraiser that evening, PASTA WITH THE PASTORS. Which I later attended. Eagerly and Happily. Before going to bed. Well fed, exhausted, and satisfied. Finis.
