This figure caught my eye. But not for the reason you might think.
Yes - you might be thinking “Less traffic definitely impacts topline revenue as this business keep the lights on running ads”.
You are not wrong. but.
What does it mean for us - growth practitioners?
Here’s my angle -
We run experiments to learn what works and improve KPIs.
To do so, we need 3 things.
We need an hypothesis, we need A/B infra, and we need traffic.
So here we are talking traffic again. But for experiment’s sake.
To what extent has StackOverflow’s ability to run many experiments decayed?
The short answer is a lot.
We can hypothesize the longer explanation talking about where in the funnel experiments are run… but that’s not the point.
The key point is - your ability to run experiments is traffic-dependent. What your traffic is based on? what was the last time you thought about it and how did it influence your experiment’s plans?
This week’s resource is one of those put-together summaries that might not tell a story you haven’t heard before - but is so well put together that it is so worth digestion.
