Cleveland Clinic has moved ambient Ai into the hands of thousands of clinicians. An Affinda agent looking for a Pilates class found more access than anybody intended. Public attitudes toward data centers are starting to depend on whose flag hangs over the owner. Now typography has wandered into the security conversation, with fonts designed so a person and an Ai system may come away from the same page with different readings.

greg report Accelerating ambient Ai scribe enterprise-scale deployment: Cleveland Clinic’s novel approach to health system-industry partnership: npj Health Systems authors Amy Merlino and colleagues report that Cleveland Clinic trained and onboarded more than 4,000 ambulatory clinicians in under 16 weeks, with more than 4,800 clinicians now using the Ai scribe across 3.5 million encounters, writing, “This partnership enabled deployment and onboarding of over 4000 ambulatory care clinicians in 4 months”; the quotidian payoff lands in fewer minutes spent staring at the note field after the patient leaves.

greg report This font looks perfectly normal to humans but confuses Ai: Fast Company looks at typography engineered around a growing weakness in machine reading: people see ordinary lettering while an Ai system struggles with what it has been given. Once agents begin reading contracts, applications, advertisements, invoices, and other documents without a person checking every page, typography stops being decoration and starts becoming part of the attack surface. The machine may be reasoning perfectly well about text the human never saw.
