We started our new 18-week online course “Ancient Virtue Ethics: Three Main Traditions” today with our first scheduled live class session, attended by about 14 or 15 people, many of whom brought up good questions to tackle.
The goals for this session were to introduce participants to the course by doing two main things. One was to provide an overview of what we’d be doing in the course itself, discuss what types of resources I’d be developing and providing, and make a few suggestions about carrying out conversations about the matters we’ll study together. The other, which we devoted considerably more time to, was exploring the topic you see in the title of the session video above. We also had some time at the end for discussing questions not just from those attending the session, but also those raised earlier by students in chats over the last week or so.
