I review lots of books on male/female issues. Most recent was The Great Feminization, by Helen Andrews. I did my own YouTube on The Feminization of Education.
Two psychologists, Orion Taraban, male, and Kate Willett, female, both have wide followings on YouTube.
The topic was handled differently a decade or so ago. The richer sex asked what happens now that women are earning more money. F. Roger Devlin’s Sexual utopia in power examined the distortions to society of women being in charge.
All of them, in my opinion, miss the main point. There is a reason for the existence of two sexes: reproduction. Unless we recognize that fact, and give it primacy, all else is moot. The question is at the level of the genotype. Can we pass on our DNA? At the level of the phenotype – living men and women – it is absolutely moot unless they reproduce. Equal pay, sexual harassment, proper use of pronouns and such, are all frivolous questions compared to the issue of whether or not we are having children and raising them to perpetuate our societies.
I suppose I should be glad that most of the books and YouTubes cited above contend that men have long been getting the short end of the stick. Longtime readers know that it is certainly my feeling as well. But what matters to me is not the unfairness that I have witnessed and written about for half a century, but the fact that it is rapidly leading to the collapse of our society.
Qualified and competent men are giving up on marriage. Women don’t trust them, and society does not give them a fair shake. Rampant discrimination leads them to give up on work. Those who do put up with working for a living are not encouraged to put forth their best. Assertiveness is branded “toxic masculinity.” Leadership positions go to less qualified but more politically correct candidates.
Most significantly, men are no longer game to have children. Those we do bear get bathed in feminist propaganda from nursery school up. Men are giving up on playing a losing game.
The issue that needs to be addressed is our society’s ability to reproduce itself. Restoring it will require restoring men’s status, roles and opportunity. Nevertheless, the essential question is not fairness, but our very survival.
My dour expectation, echoed by increasing numbers of sceptics, is that the richer countries of the world are headed for financial collapse, as the productive generations enter retirement and those that follow are too small, too uninterested in work, and, by and large too stupid even if they were sufficiently willing and numerous. After six decades of smart women eschewing motherhood, we are having to soldier on with the offspring of women who found nothing better to do in life than have kids. And those from countries without the average wit to form their own productive economies, as chronicled in books like Dysgenics and IQ and Global Inequality, studiously ignored and shouted down by our bien pensants.
I’ll close in encouraging you readers to take a look at Taraban and Willett above. Male and female, they are saying the same thing. The system is not fair. It needs to be said. But even they appear to be afraid to name the most profound problem. This may be the age of the individual, but our society will collapse unless we recognize the Biblical wisdom that “we live not unto ourselves alone.” The perpetuation of society depends on our having kids. We have that obligation to the society that bore us.
