How to Wear My Favorite Pre-Fall Trends

Last week, we talked about the five pre-fall trends I’m most excited to wear. Track pants, paprika red, Henley tees, scarf prints, and plaid. Today? A little styling inspiration with how to wear them. I hope it’s helpful. <3

Track Pants! With these (just like with board shorts, track shorts and the like), we are, to use Kelly Klein’s word, making a sandwich. Something feminine on top, a delicate sandal, and happy accessories. The look feels effortless and easy — never sloppy!

Henleys! Think of the Henley as fall’s version of the graphic tee. Anywhere you’d wear a graphic tee (or plain white tee?) swap in a henley! I love how the necklace and skirt tie in together to create a cohesive color story.

Scarf prints! This top is a dream. Pair her with simple barrel jeans (this pair from Nili was a splurge last year, but completely worth it; this pair from Anthro is a great affordable alt) and accessories that tie neatly into the pattern of the top.

Plaids! The key here is to kind of go crazy with color. I know that’s not for everyone, but I think of Amy Smilovic’s notion of “one or a ton” when it comes to color, and we are embracing a ton! The flats and shorts feel complementary, never too on the nose.
