September will mark the 10-year anniversary of Brad Pitt’s infamous “plane incident” which led Angelina Jolie to file for divorce and seek custody of the couple’s six children. We really don’t talk about the details of this case enough — in a 2022 court filing related to the ongoing lawsuit over their once-shared winery Chateau Miraval, Jolie stated that on that plane ride, a drunk Pitt “grabbed [her] by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.” He also, per Jolie, “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” and that at one point, “he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children.”
The FBI investigated Pitt for child abuse but ultimately did not pursue charges. In the aftermath, Pitt very publicly got sober — remember those Ryan McGinley photos of him rolling around in the sand for GQ?
