With a title as snarky as something Paul Westerberg would write on more of his more pissed-off days, probably after binging the debut album from The Runaways, a riff that sounds as timeless now as it would in 1969 on the Woodstock stage, and a blistering guitar solo to close it off that’s as good as any playing I’ve heard this year, loud and loose, with a few of those blessed wrong-notes-at-the-right-time that make it punk as fuck, this song should be a hard slap in the face to all those who claim rock ‘n’ roll is dead. It’s so not. It’s alive and fresh and still creating chaos. You just need to know where to find it. Having watched Bower’s explosive guitar clips on Instagram, it’s nice to see she’s playing by her own rules. She’s record-label free at the moment, and that’s probably a good thing. Her music as well seems to be label free, hinting at so many genres, and coming up with whatever she feels like playing, however she feels like playing it. I’ve already used the phrase “punk as fuck,” but in her case it’s worth repeating. Can’t wait to hear what she does next!
