What category should “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” be submitted to? Best R&B Solo Performance? I think it fits in Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance.
Hot take but I still think Harry gets in over Zara in BPVA. I’m aware of her huge breakthrough but I’m getting similar vibes as Tate McRae. I remember majority of people here were predicting her to happen just for her to get overshadowed by Teddy Swims of all people. Zara has a lot going on but I’m not sure if it can carry a remix album that was dead on arrival & has one hit that voters are already familiar with to BPVA. Harry may have flopped but his tour is performing well and he’s well acquainted with Pop voters already, but we’ll see
Teddy Swims also had Lose Control being a massive hit in 2025, so that probably helped him stay in voters minds. Tate only had Sports Car and that wasn’t a huge hit meanwhile Midnight Sun has been very stable throughout the year + her huge breakthrough.
(I’m saying this all if Bruno doesn’t submit to BPVA)
Something Beautiful also didn’t have a big hit but was critically acclaimed which Harry’s album isn’t. I’m not saying Zara is a lock if Bruno doesn’t submit but if she misses her spot I highly doubt it’ll be from Harry.

stream “am i the drama” and “the life of a showgirl” asf

Miley’s album wasn’t exactly critically acclaimed either, in fact it has lower critics scores than Harry’s album. She got namechecked because she’s a big name and respected in the Pop field even though the album tanked, and the same thing could very well happen with Harry.
“So Easy” in Traditional Pop or R&B Solo would be fraud. I’ll go Pop Solo if it’s submitted, and I honestly feel that it will be.
So Easy in Traditional Pop would not be fraud. It’s traditional jazzy pop bossa nova song. It’s not different from what Laufey does. It only could be rejected because of its success but it would be unfair
“Bossa Nova” is not a requirement for the new category, though.
Rules:
“Performances of songs defined by one or more of the following qualities inherent in musical theater: a theatrical style of composition, vocal/instrumental performance, and/or arrangement.
Tracks from benefit, tribute, concert, and cabaret albums featuring performances of repertoire as defined above.”
So yeah, “So Easy (To Fall In Love)” would be fraud. “Where Is My Husband” may be also booted if submitted.
Side note: I honestly think the category was in response to Ariana/Cynthia winning Pop Duo/Group against the bigger pop hits, which were ironically by Asian artists.
I guess we have to wait for the submissions to see what this category really is. The only thing I have clear is that Wicked:One Night Only and Rachel Zegler’s Evita will be there
Miley Cyrus got in Best Pop Vocal Album on name recognition. This season the competition is much stronger. That’s what’s preventing Harry Styles from getting in Best Pop Vocal Album.
lets be real grammy voters aint pushing out a respected pop veteran who just won roty for tate mcrae… the problem this year is that pop is too overcrowded and harry’s album came and went and not even his fans gaf about it. Harry is not miley and he’ll be getting best dance pop nod at best. midnight sun: girls trip mightve tanked but zara is the new it girl who has 2 stable hits this eligiblity period
Yes, Harry isn’t Miley because he’s actually won AOTY and BPVA? Not seeing how Miley would be more revered than him by voters. Not to mention the fact that he is currently on a successful stadium tour and unlike “Something Beautiful” actually had a huge debut with a mini hit in “American Girls”. Harry actually has more credence as a potential BPVA nom than Miley did last year lol
Zara will be in thanks to both Stateside and Midnight Sun being radio smashes. Even Crush went #1 on Dance radio. And she made some noise this summer festivals.
If Bruno Mars goes Best Pop Vocal Album, I can’t see Zara Larsson getting in.

harry winning album of the year in 2023 doesn’t automatically make him more likely to get nominated for best pop vocal album now. let’s be real about why that win happened. there was a massive split at the top between beyoncé and adele, and harry had a very strong campaign and a huge overall moment around harry’s house. he also had broader academy support, including best engineered album, which showed that the support wasn’t just coming from pop voters.
but comparing that situation to this year is completely different. kiss all the time. disco, occasionally. had a big debut, and “aperture” and “american girls” had strong starts, but where is the longevity? a big debut doesn’t automatically equal a sustained grammy narrative. meanwhile, “midnight sun” and “stateside” have had much stronger stability and are still much bigger parts of the current pop conversation.
and the stadium tour is impressive, but touring success isn’t the same thing as an album having a huge awards season. the question isn’t whether harry is successful. obviously he is. the question is whether this specific era is giving voters a reason to reward him again.
if we’re comparing the actual albums and their current impact, i don’t think you can just say “harry has already won album of the year, therefore he’s more likely than miley.” that’s using his previous era to justify his current one. miley’s situation was different because something beautiful was a major artistic statement from a veteran artist, while harry already received his huge academy coronation with harry’s house.
so yes, harry absolutely has enough credibility to be in the conversation. i’m not denying that at all. i’m just saying that his 2023 win isn’t the trump card people are making it out to be. what has harry’s current era actually done to make voters want to award him again? that’s the question.

To be fair you could make almost the exact same comparison with Tate and Miley. Tate undeniably had a bigger impact last year and had multiple pop radio hits, plus her biggest debut yet literally a week before voting started. Yet she still lost the nomination to an album with zero hits that spent a total of 2 weeks on the Billboard 200. The biggest difference is that Harry’s singles actually had strong debuts and spent multiple weeks in the Top 10. I’m not saying Harry’s locked by any means but I do think people are writing him off a little too quickly just because they don’t want him to happen.
Even if Harry gets a nomination, it’s bound to be filler, and his chance of getting a nomination beyond BPVA in the Pop Field is very slim.
