The City of Poughkeepsie, NY partnered with Jotto in 2024 to collect and analyze video, voice, and text feedback from residents in English and Spanish, giving city officials a true understanding of residents’ desires to help drive policy and support a critical grant proposal.
As part of the process of applying for a $10M grant from the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), Poughkeepsie needed to gather candid feedback from residents to ensure that the revitalization aligned with community needs.
Based on the city’s past experience, form-based surveys were unable to truly capture open-ended responses, and qualitative feedback methods were cumbersome and time consuming for staff. Poughkeepsie needed a solution that could provide qualitative feedback and analysis at scale without eating up resources and time.
How It Worked:
The city used Jotto to collect resident input through a multichannel approach that included flyers and posters, as well as social media and email campaigns.
Jotto then gathered all of the video, voice, and text feedback; translated feedback in multiple languages; customized the reporting; and identified and categorized residents’ key interests and needs.
Immediately after the public comment period closed, key metrics and insights were ready for inclusion in the grant application.
Jotto’s comprehensive feedback solution delivered rich insights into the community’s priorities and perspectives, shaping Poughkeepsie’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative proposal and helping the city land a $10 million grant.
To scale our success with Poughkeepsie, we’ve partnered with Carahsoft, the top government technology solutions provider, to bring Jotto to government agencies, municipalities, and elected officials nationwide.
