Back-to-school season is right around the corner, and as summer wraps up, we’re all looking to escape. It’s only natural, so take a deep breath and enjoy this newsletter. I’m trying out a new format today and would love to know how you feel about it.
Word on the street vibes. Let’s go.
Are we living in a world of recommendation overload? I think so, and I’m part of the problem.
I love a wild vending machine as much as the next person (see proof above). I’ve recently become obsessed with the Sag Harbor vending machine from Cavaniola’s Gourmet that dispenses caviar, cheese, crackers and jams. I can’t imagine dropping $225 at a vending machine, but I don’t live in Sag Harbor, and this vending machine is not made for me. I can see a Sag summer mom grabbing something from the vending machine on her way to a dinner party, and I don’t blame her for that. You go, girl.
And speaking of life in the Hamptons, a Water Mill event called Prenups and Pilates (yes, that’s the real name) is pairing cat-cow stretches with candid talk about marital contracts. It’s like Puppies and Pilates but way less fun.
Montauk locals and summer visitors are buzzing about Este, Offshore Montauk’s new building, a two-story restaurant with rooftop access on Montauk Highway. Will it be the next Surf Lodge? Do some digging and let me know what you think.
And if partying isn’t your thing (I can’t remember the last time I went to a bar), perhaps you want to opt for a dead zone retreat. From my inbox: Apparently travelers are deliberately booking trips with no cell signal or Wi-Fi, which isn’t entirely surprising to me, but I am interested in the trend. Hilton’s 2026 Trends Report found that 58% of parents and grandparents now build “no screen time” into vacations, and SmartFlyer named analog travel a top trend for 2027.
Fishwife’s caviar on top of vanilla ice cream, paired with olive oil and sea salt
The Mark’s Caviar Haute Dog featuring the hotel’s signature hot dog served on a potato bun with kimchi, sauerkraut, chipotle mayonnaise, and topped with Caviar Kaspia caviar (only available on July 18, unfortunately)
Marina's Pizza Co.’s $55 white pizza slice with an ounce of golden osetra caviar
I had fun writing this. I hope you had fun reading it. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer. You deserve it.
xx
