A poem of mine has now published at Veritas Journal, titled ‘An Answer to my Brother’s Phone Calls from Manhattan.’ Go read it!
I wrote it a couple of years ago, I think in 2023? Or perhaps early 2024. I’m not really the same person that I was when I wrote, but I still think it’s beautiful. And I’m glad that it has been published.
On the Substack here, I’m working on a book review of All the Lives You Can Save by Dominic Roser, David Zhang, and J.D. Bauman on Effective Altruism for Christians. I’ve had a little bit of a crush on both the EA movement and the rationalist community, so this is a treat. Spoiler alert: I think there’s a lot of good in both communities and I wish Christians would adopt some of their principles, but ultimately I find the promise of EA to be more limited in scope and in dire need of alternative perspectives (that I think Christians are well-positioned to provide!).
I am also working on an essay meditating on opportunity cost, spurred on by a recent trip to Canada where the concept popped up rather unexpectedly three times at different angles. Stay tuned for both articles before summers’ end.
