Recently, the FAA published something I believe is worth your attention: an updated Transition Plan to Unleaded Aviation Gasoline. It’s the latest step in a yearslong effort called EAGLE, short for Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions, and the purpose is to get lead out of the fuel that powers roughly 220,000 piston-engine aircraft across the country.
If you fly commercial, this isn’t necessarily going to impact those types of planes; however, this is about general aviation.

On the radar
TPA shares a public comment via social media about its move to transition to TSA Gold+. The airport urges that safety is top priority, and lets it be known that they will not be the only airport making the switch.
Delta Air Lines has launched SkyPicks, a new in-flight sports prediction game in partnership with DraftKings. Available through Delta Sync Wi-Fi, the free game lets passengers predict sports outcomes to win Delta gift cards, but let’s be clear: it does not involve real-money betting or gambling.
TSA officers at Alabama's Gulf Shores International Airport discovered five stolen Civil War-era cannonballs inside a checked bag. The historic artifacts, which had been taken from nearby Fort Morgan, were confiscated and turned over to local authorities.
The State Department is expanding its limited-edition "Patriotic Passport" program, making an additional 250,000 commemorative passports available nationwide after citing strong public demand. The optional passport, which features President Donald J. Trump and commemorates America's 250th anniversary, will be available by appointment at passport agencies across the country while supplies last.
Allegiant is adding complimentary soft drinks on all flights beginning this month, marking one of the airline's biggest onboard service upgrades in years. Looking ahead, the carrier will also introduce Allegiant First in spring 2027, a new premium cabin featuring larger reclining seats, priority boarding, and a checked bag included in the fare.
