The Story Behind the Custom Details in My Kitchen

One of my favorite things about designing this kitchen was getting to create something that felt completely personal to our home. Cabinetry, countertops, and lighting tend to get all the attention, and yes, they matter, but I’ve always believed it’s the layers and details that make a space actually memorable. The wallpaper, fabrics, and custom textiles are what brought warmth and personality to this room in a way that paint alone never could.

For this project, I collaborated with the incredibly talented Danika Herrick to customize both the wallpaper and fabrics throughout the space. We were after patterns that felt timeless and a little collected, like they’d always belonged there, while still being specific to our home. Having the ability to tailor these designs to the project made all the difference in creating a look that feels cohesive rather than pieced together.
