Happy April, Friends!

I hope you are doing great, and that you were able to gather with your communities this past weekend to resist and make your voices heard! I am so glad that Paul and I could attend the No Kings Rally in Duluth with my parents on Saturday. It was a much-needed reminder that in the midst of terrible news all over the world, there are still so many decent, caring, kind—and politically engaged!—humans standing up for our Democracy right now and every day. The rally in Duluth was attended by a heartening mix of the young and old (and decidedly middle aged) from all over the area. The speakers—many of whom were seniors in high school and will soon be participating in their first election—stressed the importance of voting in November.

And they are totally right! If we care about building a better future for the next generations, we cannot be intimidated or dissuaded from heading to the polls in November. Voting is not pointless or merely symbolic - if we vote en masse for the Senators and Representatives who take the concerns of citizens seriously instead of bowing to corporate / executive pressures, we have a shot at making some long-overdue changes and to rectify the nightmares brought about by this Administration. So if you haven’t registered to vote yet, please do! We really need to turn out at the Midterms; voting in this election is every bit as important as in a presidential year!

Anyway, I just wanted to send a quick little message with some book-related links and interviews, because my book launch is now only two weeks away! 😲 Then Paul and I will be hitting the road… I will be doing Book Talks + Concerts in Duluth, New York City, Connecticut, Chicagoland, The North Bay, San Francisco, Minneapolis + Boston!

And that’s just the beginning, I hope! It is my wish that this book gets read by music lovers, disabled folks (and their families and friends), and students in all sorts of fields—music, teaching, med schools, any kind of helping professions, and by politicians! This book contains everything I wish the world talked about around disability, but I also wrote it as an ode to creativity, kindness, and the power of caring relationships.

I can’t wait for you to read it, to hold it in your hands! The team at Algonquin did a beautiful job with the hardcover book and the audiobook. I am feeling very grateful for their amazing support and hard work as we get ready to launch this thing into the world. And with that, here are a few links to peruse / share with your family + friends:

That’s it for now, Friends! Thanks to everyone who has preordered the book already, and for sharing your kind words and enthusiasm with me as the days creep ever closer to the release! Take care of yourselves, your families + your neighbors this month!

With Love,
Gaelynn Lea
