This week’s mix here on the Worldwide Underground is all about music against war, including both of the songs that these 2Pac and Saul Williams quotes came from, along with timeless pieces from Warsan Shire, Gil Scott-Heron, Nina Simone, Bambu, Noname, Sharon Jones, Lowkey, K’naan, Ivy Sole, Quetzal, and so much more.

This last weekend I got to do an interview with South Seattle Emerald about my latest song, “POW“, where they said it was “The Song You Need When Protesting ICE“. One of the questions they asked was where hip-hop was in this political moment, and the truth is music is always where I’ve turned to in hard times. Today’s mix is a testament to just some of the voices that have made sense out of senseless situations, across genres and generations.
