Weekly Mix: And what a week it's been!

Y’all. This has been an incredible week for new music. Let me catch you up.

Last Friday, Yaya Bey dropped an album called Fidelity that I can already tell is going to be on repeat in my car for much of the year. And then on Monday, we got a masterpiece of an album from Blu & Exile titled Time Heals Everything, with some of the most personal storytelling I’ve heard from Blu thus far.

That same day, Prometheus Brown rolled out the gamma version of our new album Empire Way, Vol. 1. You don’t need to know coding to listen to an early version of the album before we make a few changes, but you do need to head to GitHub to read about the process and to get the exclusive album link.

On Tuesday, my family Bocafloja out of Mexico City announced Mocambismo, the third in his series of limited edition vinyl releases. This one features the song “Fanonian” featuring Aisha Fukushima and myself, which is one of my favorite collaborations I got to do these last few years. You can pick up the vinyl exclusively via Sociedad Cimarrona.

On Wednesday, The Neighborhood Kids released their full-length debut VOICE OF THE REVOLUTION. I’m so excited about this groups existence, and about this album. Bambu said on his IG the day the album dropped: “objectively, this is one of the strongest debut albums ever put out.” I know that’s a lot to put on anyone’s debut, but I encourage y’all to go listen. I feel very connected to this album as well, as it features both Bambu and Sa-Roc, and these are all artists I was lucky enough to book for the Palestine Will Live Forever festival. I remember watching them all meet each other for the first time, like it was a movie.

The Neighborhood Kids also announced their first headlining tour, and they will be performing at the Nectar in Seattle on June 7th, and Jazzbones in Tacoma on June 8th. My family Rell Be Free will be opening up those 2 shows, with me on the turntables and maybe some guest vocals. These shows will likely be the first place you can get our forthcoming album Everything Is Everything on vinyl!!! (That’s Rell Be Free, with me on production). And that brings us to today. I’ve got a new mix of music for you featuring everything I’ve already mentioned along with new records from aja monet feat. Mick Jenkins & Vic Mensa, Black Milk feat. Saba, The PLAYlist feat. Kassa Overall, MALIA, Blue Lab Beats feat. Jamila Woods, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.) feat. Jadakiss, KIRBY, and a proclamation from NANA that I felt deep in my soul tited "The Internet Must Die”.
