Solo stoner drone / doom metal solo project VOID SINKER from Italy is back on May 15 with a 5-track album that’s nearly a full hour of relentless heaviness. Started in 2023, Void Sinker is the result of Guglielmo Allegro (drummer for Hypervenom and Goliathan) where he explores the slow & heavy end of the doom metal genre.
The album opens with 13-minute “Hanged” (which is available to preview now) and sets the tone for the hour to come. Thick, slow, crawling slabs of fuzz beat on you. If you dig drone but also want something that’s a little heavier, then Void Sinker’s “Cycle” is the album for you.
Next up is the title track, “Cycle” which highlights Guglielmo’s excellent drum work. This song is more up-tempo and pushes the envelope for what we’ve come to expect from stoner drone.
“Isolated” and “Dreadful” continue the instrumental thunder and by now, you’ve come to realize that what sets apart VOID SINKER’s interpretation of drone from so many others is the drum work and extra layer of down-tuned fuzz.
The album ends with “Nowhere” and by now, you’ve definitely got your money’s worth with this hour full of stone drone metal.
Fuzzy’s recommendation: Dig it!! 🤘🐊
From the band:
A solo project born from the mind of Guglielmo Allegro (drummer for Hypervenom and Goliathan). The project was born from the desire to experiment with ever more massive sounds and create a sort of empathy with the dimension of the void through caveman riffs at very low tunings, hypnotic drone melodies and increasingly extreme experimentations.
