Chapter 9: Ignorance
“I did not give your mother some mixture of unknown origin, but rather a very delicate medicine which I have kept for quite some time in the hopes that my friend and ally was alive.” He turns towards Roz’s quarters, thoughtful. “I am affiliated with a school where you will expand your knowledge of Magick, which is necessary for your safety and survival, as you will kill someone if you have not done so already.”
My mind flashes to the incident when my leg was injured, and I feel sick.
The stranger draws himself through our door, and I follow him as if pulled. He pauses by his carriage to speak. “You are aware of the City beyond the southernmost border of this region?”
“Yes.”
He waits for me to speak again; when I do not he seems satisfied. “I live there in a big house with a courtyard- this is how many people live there.”
