keeping beautiful things in circulation has always mattered to me. a good book rearranges how you see; an old photograph still stops you, still makes you wonder about whoever once held it, their name long gone. what might have been discarded becomes part of someone’s life instead. this box belongs to that impulse—buying less, choosing well, sparing old things the landfill, making room for objects with some history worn into them.
the mystery is also part of the intention. you order, and then you wait a couple of weeks, and the waiting does something to you: it opens a little distance between wanting a thing and having it, and that distance is where most of the pleasure lives. we’ve gotten used to closing that gap the instant it opens—one tap, delivered by morning, the wanting over before it can turn into anything. this is the opposite of that. a small anticipation you get to keep for a while before the box ever reaches your door.
