Saving money doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming, you can make these 7 simple swaps and potentially save thousands every single year with very little effort.

This is one of my favorite swaps (mostly because I use the interest I earn to buy a couple “free” coffees every month).

I started using a HYSA as my Checking Account back in December of 2022 and I get around $30 every single month just for switching.

All of us have money coming in and out of our Checking Account each month, so we might as well earn interest on that money too! Even small amounts add up.

I also keep a month of expenses as a buffer in my Checking Account, so I earn higher interest on all of that every single month instead of having it sit in a regular account earning nothing.

All of my bills get pulled directly from the savings portion of my account—my mortgage, credit card payments, debt payments, etc. I experimented with HYSA’s until I found one that had all of the Checking Account features I needed. Mine has a fee-free ATM network in case I need cash, unlimited transfers, and you can even create buckets for your sinking funds for immediate access.

If you have private student loans, this one is for you!

I won’t go into too much detail here because I have an entire guide if you want to learn more ⬇️

Food costs eat up a significant portion of our budget and we tend to justify this because we have to eat. While true, there are still ways to lower your food costs on a consistent basis.

One way is to always keep easy grocery store meals in your fridge. Whether that be frozen meals, a deli wrap, a poke bowl, just having something ready to eat with very little effort helps reduce the amount of take-out you order.

Sometimes we avoid these ready-to-go meals because they are more pricey, but I promise they are much less pricey than ordering food delivery.

This is another way your grocery bill climbs significantly. Grocery Delivery means you are paying extra fees, tips, and other hidden costs. While convenient, (I definitely use Grocery Delivery on occasion) it can be hard to justify the increase in cost versus Grocery Pick-up.

Let’s be honest—you are not watching enough content on every single streaming portal to justify paying for all of them at the same time.

Choose one. Once you finish all the movies or shows you’re currently watching, move onto the next.

If you’re shopping and not getting any discounts, you are losing out on some easy money. If you have credit cards, check if they have shopping portals! My personal favorite is the Capital One shopping portal.

There are also cash back apps like Rakuten!

Did you know you can get a phone plan with literally anyone? I don’t know why I didn’t consider this earlier honestly. It’s so much cheaper to add lines to a plan than it is to have your own individual phone plan. My partner and I recently got a phone plan with his brother and sister-in-law and it cut my phone bill almost in half!

You should be shopping around every year! New customer deals are usually better than what you’re offered as an existing customer.

It is sooooo easy to make better coffee than these chain restaurants at home. You won’t want to go back!

Duh!! Plus a lot of libraries have fun extras like board games, movies and tv shows, I’ve even checked out a telescope to see a full moon!!
