I read the statement in a post the other day, and it really hit me.

We get a choice.

To consume or to create.

I’m not sure about you, but the idea of being labelled a ‘consumer’ doesn’t sit right. Like my job is to scroll, consume, take. Whether that’s buying stuff I don’t need or mindlessly absorbing other people’s content.

Although it’s true.

‘I read a statement in a post the other day’. Look. Right there. Me being all high and mighty. Consuming like a mindless fucking consumer.

Fair point.

Creator however. Yeah, I’m down for that.

When you’re just creating stuff for the sake of it, and then you stick it in a drawer afterward it’s easy. There’s nothing cringe about that.

It’s when you hang it in an art gallery for people to see.
Or you post it on Substack, or LinkedIn.
That’s where the cringe is.

Because maybe not everyone agrees. Maybe you got something wrong. Maybe you’re stupid.

Yeah well fuck it.

If you come from a genuine place in your creating.

If it feels like play to you.

Then post it.

Honestly, I’m not really sure what I want. But I have a gut feeling that whatever it is, it’s on the other side of cringe.

Yesterday I posted a video of me sharing some business 101 on LinkedIn.

A video.

101 business advice.

Yep, felt proper cringe.

Not making it. That felt eeeeeasy. Actually posting the thing.

CRINGE.

But fuck it.

It’s done.

So far 433 people have been impressed by it (that’s what impressions means right 😉).

If I’ve helped only 10% of those people then 43 people got some value from my cringe.

If those 43 people were in a room clapping, that’d feel great.

So there you go.

That’s the work.
