The Artistree Project is an art collaboration for Fieldmoot. This has been a special experience for us each year, featuring creatives with skills ranging from linocut block printing to painting, from poetry to multimedia art. Each artist begins a piece and leaves it open in some way for another artist to complete. Our hope for this collaboration is to foster community, growth, and organic relationship through the co-creation of art. The Artistree Project name was born out of the idea of a tree as a sheltering place that offers hospitality to a variety of creatures, where the work of one creates a hospitable space for the creative flourishing of another.

We are now looking for participants for this year’s project!
Important details and deadlines:
The deadline to commit to the project if you would like to participate this year is Monday, July 20th, at 11:59 PM (CDT).
After the commitment deadline, you will be paired with two other participants: one who will send you an unfinished piece they started and one to whom you will send an unfinished piece you started. (The pairings work like a circle: person A sends to person B, B sends to person C, C sends to person D, and D completes the circle by sending to person A.) You will be given your partners’ contact info so you’ll have the opportunity to discuss subjects, media, etc., as needed before you begin. Participants will be notified of their pairings by July 22nd.
You will then begin a project to be sent to the first partner you’ve been paired with no later than August 15th. The specifics of what it looks like to leave space for the next person to finish the project may vary depending on the person you’re paired with; for example, if you’re a visual artist sending to another visual artist, it may be different than if you’re a visual artist sending to a poet.
Each person will complete the project they have received from their second partner and send photos of that completed project to the Fieldmoot Team (fieldmoot@gmail.com) by September 15th.
After everyone has completed the project they received, there will be a recorded reveal session via Zoom between September 20th - October 3rd (date TBD) where everyone in the group will be able to see how their receiving partner completed their collaborative project and discuss the experience together. The video from that recorded call becomes the Fieldmoot presentation.
