Three Recent Outfits

It has been a whirlwind week of travels—to Virginia (read more here), a weekend in downtown DC (inadvertently there during the car race… very strange…), and now New York. I’m on my way back now. It’s been crazy and I have to say I’m so eager to get back to our apartment and specifically my bed!

I packed minimally and I have to say I did not pack appropriately for this last leg of traveling—who knew that I’d need a pretty heavy wool sweater this morning? Thankfully I pulled some out of storage so I didn’t freeze, but I will tell you it was delightful to pull one on.

Here’s what I’ve been wearing lately…

Southern Tide kindly sent me this shirt a few weeks ago and I LOVE it—it’s soft, lightweight, and 100% cotton. It’s also pretty wrinkle-resistant, so it’s been great for travel days. I’ve worn with the sleeves down and the sleeves rolled up and both options have worked well. I’m wearing it now, actually, on our way back, and feel very comfortable.

We stayed downtown and went out to dinner for a few nights over the weekend; it was great to walk to dinner and just relax! The weather has been cooler and a lot less humid lately so it’s been particularly pleasant to sit outside. This Ann Mashburn dress is both the perfect style (knee-length with long sleeves) and perfect pattern for the end of summer. I can’t wait to wear it with boots later on in the year!

I was so astonished that I, the self-proclaimed Queen of Sweaters, the woman so excited for sweater weather she’s been dreaming about it… did not pack a sweater. Thankfully I could dig one out from the basement and WHAT a sweater. I picked it up last year after my friend Merryn Kemp posted on Scottish sweaters. This one is from William Lockie, but this Eleanor Leftwich cardigan is also wishlist-worthy.

I’m wearing the same outfit on the Acela, and I will confirm it is train-approved!

Short but sweet! I’ll be back (I hope) on Friday!
