Becky Mollenkamp · Yes, and Otherwise

I sat down with Moriah Lynn, sociologist and founder of Like Home, to talk about something most businesses are completely ignoring: menstrual care as a worker’s rights issue.

Only 2% of US companies currently offer any form of period leave. Seven years ago it was zero. In the meantime, 2 in 5 women in Michigan alone are missing work because they can’t afford period products.

We covered the equity vs. equality argument that should inform every HR policy you write, why the $40 billion period care industry is built entirely around discretion (not care), and why Moriah believes winning this fight ultimately opens the door to better mental health leave, disability leave, and paternity leave for everyone on your team.

The line I keep thinking about: “Either it’s a need or it’s not.”
