Alright, buckle up buttercups, because Feathertree is back in the blogging game! It’s been a minute or so, hasn’t it? I know, I know, you've been sitting there, desperate with anticipation, twiddling your thumbs, probably re-watching Withnail & I for the hundred and tenth time, wondering where on earth I'd vanished to. Well, fear not, I haven't been abducted by aliens (though, given the last few months, I wouldn't rule it out). No, instead, I've been focusing on learning about social storytelling through creative challenges, getting people to join our discord, and – drumroll please, because this is a biggie – finally getting our social storytelling app, Scenes, live!

Head on over to our site to find out everything: https://www.feathertreearts.com/prototype

Yeah, I remember saying it'd be ready in March. Bless my optimistic little cotton socks. That was back when I still believed in Santa and thought the queue for the chippy on a Friday night was a mere suggestion. Turns out, building an app is less like knocking up a garden shed and more like trying to assemble the Death Star with only a spanner and a half-eaten packet of Rich Tea biscuits. But, it’s finally out there on the Apple App Store! (Android folks, bear with us, we're still battling the dark forces of the Google Play Store, but it’s coming, I promise. Soon you too can join the revolution!)

And what a revolution it is!

We're excited to start performing in this totally new way to tell stories. Think Blair Witch Project meets The Truman Show meets your Nan’s slightly unhinged WhatsApp group.

The app is also ready for you to request to set up and tell your own story, with a handy template script to get your creative juices flowing. And we are here to help you develop your story or create artificial reality assets with you.

As you know, the app is intentionally a bit of a prototype at the moment, purposefully a bit rough around the edges, consciously a bit clunky; like a lovingly restored classic car that sometimes backfires. But it’s ready for you to unleash your inner storyteller, and your feedback about the interface and functionality will be invaluable to us as we develop the app further.

Speaking of stories, we're about to drop our own, and trust me, it’s going to be cool. Inspired by our struggles developing and making the app live, it’s a found footage style, with the Feathertree team themselves becoming increasingly unhinged as an unknown entity starts messing with their heads. Imagine if the crew of the Nostromo were trying to build a social media app instead of dealing with a xenomorph, and you’re halfway there. It’s got a proper horror vibe to it, and we’re hoping it'll make you jump more than a surprise visit from your mother-in-law. We’ll be performing it live in the app in a few weeks, with the team themselves as the performers. We’re just kicking off rehearsals, polishing our lines, and trying not to scare ourselves senseless. We'd absolutely love for you to join us in the app to watch it unfold. Not only will you get a front-row seat to our descent into madness, but you can also pick up tips on how to use the app, and crucially, tell us what you think! Your feedback is gold, people, pure gold, like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction.

And because we're gluttons for punishment, we’re already brewing up two more stories – one for the belly laughs, and one that’s going to hit you right in the feels. And we’re committed to keeping the stories flowing.

Now, here’s where you lot come in, you beautiful, creative bunch of strangers. For this upcoming found footage horror romp, we’d love some of you to join us as background characters. Think of it as your chance to make your cinematic debut, albeit in a slightly surreal, possibly terrifying, digital landscape. We need about 4 to 6 brave souls to post short performed scenes from our prompts, adding layers to the narrative. And our future planned stories will all have spaces for new performers to join us too.

We see you as co-creators, beta testers, and general legends. If the idea of becoming a digital extra in our very own horror flick tickles your fancy, please, for the love of all that is holy, get in touch! Don't be shy, we won't bite (unless the entity makes us).

We’ll also be sniffing around for talent on Backstage and Talentmanager, so keep your eyes peeled on those platforms too.

So, there it is. The app is live, the stories are brewing, and the stage is set. All we need now is you. Let’s get together, tell some truly wild tales, and build this thing, slowly, carefully, like a delicate house of cards in a hurricane. Your feedback will be our guiding light, our Bat-Signal in the digital night.

Right, I'm off for a cuppa. Don't be strangers. What do you reckon? Ready to dive into the digital abyss with us? And what kind of weird and wonderful stories are you itching to tell? Let us know in the comments below, and seriously, jump into our Discord! We’re always up for a natter, and frankly, we could use the company before the app eats our brains.
