Eleanor Roosevelt said that “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."

In the book, How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci, by Michael J. Gelb, it says, “ Great minds ask great questions.”

These kinds of words facilitate within me a desire to explore what it is that makes my mind great. And when I think of greatness, I also think of things like compassion, unconditional love and personal power (empowerment).

But there is one thing more. And this thing is the greatest thing of all in terms of facilitating a great mind within myself. This thing is my connection with Something Within Me that is a part of me, connecting me to the great world beyond me and imbuing me with all of Its power, love, joy, peace and other of Its qualities.

And here we get to one of the most difficult concepts of Science of Mind to grasp: that this Thing that some call God is a part of us. From this one concept I get everything in life that is worthwhile to me: all that personal power, compassion, unconditional love I spoke of earlier. I am made in the image and likeness of God and thus I AM all the qualities of God. One could extrapolate therefore that I AM. I AM. I AM.

And I breathe into that I AMness and from that place of peace I sink into when I think of I AM, I be still and know. And then the faith comes. The knowingness that no matter what outer event occurs in my world, it is insignificant and almost irrelevant in the grand scheme of my life. My inner awareness of I AM is the beginning and the end. This awareness is what allows me to successfully journey through all the outer shenanigans that life consists of.

So the key to a great mind is connection. Always connection. Always remembering that we are one with the One. To such an extent that we never even speak of God in the third person, because It is no longer out there, It is in here. Within. A part of. I AM.

And so today I remember, first and always, that I am a part of God and It is a part of me. And then I move outward in a glorious dance of joy with life itself.
