Kodai Senga has settled into the Mets’ closing role in August, leading to one run and six baserunners across six innings with seven strikeouts and four saves. Daniel Duarte extended his shutout string to 9.1 innings with one hit, three walks, eight strikeouts, and two saves.
Nate Lavender has been exceptional since being called up in early August. He hasn’t allowed a run over 7.2 innings with one hit, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. His arm also played well at AAA this season (3.27 ERA, 1.091 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts across 33.0 innings.
Over his past 10 appearances, Mason Montgomery tossed nine shutout innings with three hits, two walks, and 19 strikeouts, resulting in three successful saves with a pair of wins. The Red Sox drilled Luke Weaver for three runs and four hits with three strikeouts over one inning late Saturday, giving him his worst outing since April 11th. He has a 0.97 ERA, 0.757 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts across 37.0 innings.
The ninth inning for the Giants remains in the hands of Dylan Smith, who has been at his best across his previous 14.2 innings (1.84 ERA, 1.091 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts), resulting in two saves in three chances. Jason Foley has been trending in the right direction in August (two runs, eight baserunners, and five strikeouts over 7.1 innings).
