I’m not a fan of AI writing stuff for me that should be personal. Which includes performance scripts. But I’m also not someone who dismisses tools that can be really helpful. So I added AI scripting support to Headliner (but also included a toggle to hide all mention of AI for people who hate it).
A Draft with AI button will take the beats of your effect and create six premises, and then you can tell it to expand any one of them into a full script.
A Get Notes button will look at your existing script for something and critique it (general, or focus on whatever you want) -- that’s the thing I’m finding genuinely handy.
While I don’t always agree with the suggestions it makes, so far it’s been really good about pointing out areas that could be stronger.
If you’re playing around with AI and scripting, the two things that (for me) made the biggest difference between stuff and usable stuff were these:
Create a persona that includes your character description. Tell it how much comedy vs mystery you prefer, and whether you’re casual or more formal in speech. Give it taboos (things you never want included), a voice sample (a script in *your* voice), and an “act mythology.”
Then instead of asking for a script for B’Wave, give it a set of beats that describes the effect. For example:
Packet of four cards is introduced.
Audience imagines they’re the four queens.
An imaginary choice is made.
Imaginary cards are manipulated.
A queen is named.
The named queen appears face up.
The queen has a different-colored back.
The remaining cards are shown to be blank.
Giving AI that kind of info to work with, on top of the persona, makes a giant difference in what you get back.
