Hi friends-

Coming off a complete high from the weekend! Like I mentioned last week, it was my husband’s 40th, so we had a lake tie-up with his closest friends on Saturday! I surprised him with a DJ on a boat that tied up to us, the forecast was questionable all week, and somehow it turned into the most perfect, hot and sunny day. It was epic. My husband grew up living on a lake and now we live on that same lake, and I’ve never known someone who embraces lake life more than him. There’s nothing better than seeing someone you love so much completely in their element, surrounded by so many of his lifelong friends. It was such a fun day and exactly how I wanted to celebrate him turning 40.

We have 2.5 weeks before my kids start school, summer camps are winding down, fall sports are starting up, the school supplies are purchased and so we are going to soak up some good family time between now and Labor Day. My mind has felt like scrambled eggs lately because I am trying my hardest to live in the moment and soak up these last few summer weeks, but if I ignore the future I know I will be wildly unprepared for the school year and the million fall sports schedules that are about to kick off, anyone else?!?Let's get into this week's brain dump:

-We went to my niece's 8th birthday party yesterday and one of the gifts she got was a giant pack of

modeling clay and all of the kids were obsessed, playing with it all afternoon! All 3 of my kids were still playing with their packs this morning so it seems like a hit across a big age range!

-I know I have chatted about this

lake float a lot this summer, but it truly is the MVP of our lake days, we are totally obsessed. For my husband's tie-up party we had 3 of them floating in the lake and it is the best way for adults and kids to hang in a lake or pool even and "lake rot" aka lounge. My kids like playing king of the mountain on it. It's on sale right now at such a great price too, we own the 8 foot size!

-As fall sports for kids start up again, don't forget about these awesome

mister water bottles! The have a built in spraying function that keeps your kids cool on hot days, we own 3 of them now!

-As many of us have easy non-toxic swaps on our mind, especially for our kids, I have gotten a few requests lately for what

stainless steel plates we are using for kids. We have owned these for over a year and love them! I tossed the silicone sleeves, but they come with them for an anti-slip option.

What To Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking: Make It Fast - I have been a longtime follower and fan of Caroline Chambers, and she just released her second cookbook that I had pre-ordered months ago! What stands out about her recipe development is that she, much like all parents, wants to eliminate unnecessary steps; minimize dirty dishes; and make dinnertime as simple, stress-free, and fun as possible. She offers a million different swaps for all the ingredients to tailor any recipe to your preference too!

My niece turned 8 recently and part of the gift we got her was this AI Smart Voice sticker maker and she loves it! Your kids can speak to this sticker box and their voice commands then create custom stickers that are printable and you can color!

One of my favorite family traditions is interviewing my kids every year on their birthday! It’s so simple: they answer the same 20 questions each year (with a few tweaks to make them age-appropriate) and then we save the videos to look back on.

After the interview, we all pile onto the couch as a family and rewatch the interviews from years past. Watching their answers, little personalities, interests, and opinions evolve each year is the sweetest thing. My son just turned 8 and watching his answers change from his very first interview to now was especially special and a little bittersweet. They grow SO much and these videos capture versions of them that we’d otherwise forget. If you have little ones, I highly recommend starting this tradition around age 3. You’ll be SO glad you did.
