Dear friend,

Newsletter #6 is here. Summer has settled in - although we are looking forward to more light, asparagus season is winding down, and the past few weeks have been full — festivals, new art on the walls, and a day out with the team.

We’re glad you’re here — enjoy the read.

30th of May we celebrated the second edition of Stripfest, and once again the Hamerkwartier was buzzing. Europizza hosted the Euro Pizza Academy — a pizza-making class for kids aged four to twelve. The weather cooperated, and so did the children.

Later that evening, Thijs Boontjes took over the Benelux Bar with his drive-in show, followed by DJs Adriana Lucid, Lola Edo, and Amandla. It was a good and late night.

Restaurant Europa now has five new works on display by Amsterdam-based artist Didi Lehnhausen — our neighbour in Amsterdam Noord. The largest piece is nearly eight metres long — made around the winter solstice, built up in layers by multiple hands. Didi works across a range of techniques: batik on antique linen, pigments and paint on canvas, darkroom photography. Her work explores memory, colour, and the body. We're honoured to have it on our walls. Pass by and

The season of one of our favourite ingredients is slowly drawing to a close. At Europizza: pan-fried asparagus with elderflower hollandaise, cecina de leon, and kale flowers. At Europa: raw and grilled asparagus with fresh kombu seaweed, morel mushroom filled with scallop mousse, and a classic pepper sauce. In these final weeks we're juicing as much as possible — we save the juice and use it throughout the rest of the year to brighten sauces. Don't wait too long; we'll be serving this until the third week of June.

For the fourth year running, we were at Lentekabinet, the festival for new electronic music at the Twiske. Beautiful weather, beautiful people, and over 1,500 pizzas out the door. What a day. Thank you for coming — it was wonderful to see everyone again. We're already looking forward to next year. Not ready to let go yet? You can also find us at Dekmantel, 29 July to 2 August in the Amsterdamse Bos.

Two weeks ago we celebrated our annual staff party with the whole Euroworld team. We kicked things off at Eurosoft for iced coffee and cake, followed by a painting session at Stretch and Fold. Then a guided tour of Molen de Otter — Amsterdam's only still-functioning windmill — led by Mourad and Maarten, who have also just opened their new Louf location there. We wrapped up with dinner at Stacks Diner. It's good to connect with colleagues outside of work — conversations naturally drift away from the job and towards the person. Thank you, team, for a great day!
