Happy Friday! As you read this, I’m in Oklahoma at our annual Family Reunion (yes, we do capitalize that puppy). My dad’s family has been hanging out yearly for something like 65+ years, and it’s a summer tradition for us to load up and head to Hoochatown (yes, a real place) for one weekend. So while I’ll miss you in the comments, I have a lovely collection of treasures for your perusal (like this was a great week for treasures for real).

My Venn diagrams overlapped this week when Timothee Chalamet met the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and it was everything I ever hoped for. He was (wait for it) Thunderstruck.
I mentioned last week that I was reading How to Hide an Empire by Daniel Immerwahr, and I just wanted to circle back that it was excellent and I highly recommend. There’s a whole chapter on the Japanese internment camps, and it seemed especially poignant when I saw that some of the survivors were protesting at Dilley detention center in Texas. To go through such a horrific ordeal as a child and to use your experience to advocate for other children is overwhelmingly brave and honorable. Anyway, if you’re in Texas, keep writing your lawmakers to remind them that we don’t have to be a country that imprisons children.
