It’s been a few weeks since I published something on Substack, and I felt I needed to ameliorate that and also provide an explanation.
I recently was teaching an in-depth and intense (for me) series of classes on the book of Isaiah for the past few months, and for a while, all of my extra time was spent on preparing for that. And it also happened that all of my writing projects seemed to hit the editing stage all at once. And so between my class prep and editing, I had little time for new writing.
But the class is over now, and the editing continues, but there is opportunity for additional writing now, so I’m hoping my dry spell on Substack will come to an end for now, so I hope you look forward to that.
Regarding what is coming up later this year, my projects that are in the editing phase are getting closer to the beta-reader phase, which I’m hoping to get to within a couple of months (if I’m optimistic, I’d say within a month, but I always underestimate how much time things take me). If all goes well the rest of the year, I should be releasing an additional novella in my Presidents of the Uncanny States of America series (this one about Grover Cleveland), and I will have two short stories that I will release as individual books, too. And shortly into 2027, I will have the rights to another short story returned to me that I plan on publishing by itself as well.
In addition to the aforementioned publishing projects, I am busy working on the books to come after those. I also have other non-fiction projects that I’m working on: A study guide on the book of Job. And I am assembling, collating together, and editing my late grandfather’s sermon archive into book form as well.
So, with grace, I should have plenty to share with you all this year and the years to come. Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support!
