Donald Trump just received economic news so alarming that even Fox News couldn’t sugarcoat it.

JPMorgan is warning that global food inflation could climb to approximately 5 percent during the first half of 2027—nearly double its rate during the same period in 2026. The bank says deteriorating crop conditions, fertilizer shortages, geopolitical instability, and snarled supply chains could combine to create a global food crisis.

That means higher prices at the grocery store for families who are already struggling to keep up.

During a Fox News segment, analysts acknowledged that weather is only one piece of the problem. The larger danger is that the global system responsible for transporting food and fertilizer has been severely disrupted. They specifically pointed to the Strait of Hormuz, the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Kerch Strait.

Those disruptions don’t remain thousands of miles away. They eventually reach your neighborhood grocery store.

When fertilizer becomes more expensive or difficult to obtain, farmers use less of it. That reduces crop yields. When shipping routes are blocked or delayed, transporting food becomes more expensive. Those costs then cascade through the supply chain until American families are forced to pay the bill.

This is where Donald Trump’s reckless foreign policy comes crashing into the American economy.

Trump’s war with Iran and the resulting disruption surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have helped drive up the cost of energy, shipping, fertilizer, and food production. According to JPMorgan, the combination of fertilizer shortages, geopolitical tensions, and extreme weather could push global food inflation to an annualized rate of 5 percent.

This crisis was not inevitable.

Trump chose escalation. He chose chaos. He chose to launch trade wars against American allies while destabilizing one of the world’s most important shipping corridors. Now the consequences of those decisions are beginning to appear at gas stations and grocery stores across the country.

Once again, Trump is proving that he isn’t interested in lowering your costs. He is pursuing policies that make ordinary Americans pay more while the wealthiest people in the country receive massive tax breaks.

The political consequences are becoming impossible for Republicans to ignore.

As of this writing, prediction-market traders give Democrats an approximately 86 percent chance of winning control of the House. That is not a guarantee, but it is a powerful indication of how dramatically the political environment has shifted.

Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson know what a Democratic victory would mean: congressional oversight, investigations, subpoenas, and a long-overdue effort to hold this administration accountable.

Democrats cannot take their foot off the gas.

Every candidate running for office should be explaining how Trump’s decisions have increased the cost of gasoline, groceries, housing, and everyday necessities. They should be visiting grocery stores, farms, and gas stations and showing voters exactly how Republican policies are affecting their lives.

Trump loves taking credit for his tariffs, his war, and his massive tax legislation. Democrats should let him.

Make him own every grocery bill. Make him own every increase at the gas pump. Make him own a national debt that has now crossed $40 trillion.

The contrast could not be clearer.

Democrats are fighting to lower costs and restore stability. Trump is creating chaos and asking working families to finance it.

Now we have to make certain every American understands who is responsible—and votes accordingly in November.
