Theres a mistake we’ve inherited from the modern obsession with categorization: the division of the feminine into “light” and “dark” archetypes. We speak about the soft, radiant, nurturing woman on one side, and the raw, shadowed, fierce woman on the other — as if they are two different beings who must be embodied separately. This division isnt truth. Its distortion. & to be honest from what ive noticed the “light fems” who are overly judgmental of “dark fems”, are often heavily closeted in their own shadows. Their criticism masks a hidden animosity rooted in unacknowledged desire, envy, or fear. Meanwhile, the “dark fems”swing to the other extreme, hyper-sexualized and desperate to prove that their bodies are theirs and powerful —as if it needs to be broadcasted and validated across social media. The power of a woman’s body is a fact known for centuries simply by its existence alone. Its easy to see that both sides perform what they think they’ve mastered, yet both remain incomplete. The feminine was never meant to be split into halves.
Disclaimer: Feminine and masculine currents flow through every soul, regardless of gender; they are the twin forces of creation woven into all of life. What I write here does not deny that truth. Instead, this letter speaks to the feminine archetype as it is embodied in women, in flesh and form, where its mysteries and distortions are most visibly lived. This is the lens through which these words should be read.
The feminine is wholeness by nature. She is both sanctuary and storm, both the soil and the bloom, both the mother and the destroyer. To live only in her “light” is to deny her depth, to flatten her into performance and sweetness without a backbone. To live only in her “dark” is to lose balance, collapsing into chaos, seduction without compassion, destruction without purpose. No sensuality. Together though, these forces form the sovereignty of the feminine. Light gives shape and curvature to shadows, and shadow gives depth and unspoken meaning to light. They are not opposites but complements, braided into a single rhythm. The divine feminine is a force of mercy and consequence, tenderness and ferocity, beauty and terror…inseparable and indivisible.
This danger of separation is ancient. Eve didnt fall because she was simply curious or light — she fell because she sought life in partiality….choice without wholeness. She fell due to naivety….blind curiosity. Lilith’s wrath isnt simply defined either — it was the fury of shadow untempered by light. The individualistic ideologies, the lack of care for creation, for love, for unity…only power. It was the false reality of her being one and that natural rhythms can be defied. To live wholly, the feminine must integrate both sides of her essence. The biblical whispers are constant: do not linger too long in one chamber of the self. The soul that clings to shadow without radiance will consume those around her; the soul that clings to light without shadow will crumble at the first storm.
The womb itself reveals this too. Its the space where life is held, nourished, and brought forth, and also the space where death is received, where blood flows in cycles, where endings make way for beginnings. Creation and destruction are not two separate acts but one movement of sacred order. The feminine doesnt split them apart. She understands them as inseparable aspects of her being.
When we insist on separating “light feminine” from “dark feminine,” we fracture what was always whole. That has never worked….We attempt to make the infinite digestible, to tame the wildness of her paradox. But the feminine is paradox. The union of light and dark within her is not abstract; its physiological, spiritual, and cosmic. The blood that nourishes her body carries the memory of the earth and the stars. Her emotions are oracles, her desires are scripture, her instincts are prayers. She reads the world through her senses, and the divine reads her through the same. When she honors both the shadow and the light, she communes with life itself. She understands that mercy without fire is weak, and fire without mercy is dangerous. She knows the world is not a place to be survived but to be danced through, and the rhythm is hers alone to learn. This is her greatest wisdom…. the recognition that life itself is not made of neat categories but of cycles, polarities, and paradoxes in a eternal dance.
So to the beautiful women who are trying to avoid getting caught up in categorizations and labels that this generation desperately clings to…. know, to honor the feminine is not to worship her “light” while fearing her “dark.” Its to bow to the union of both. Its to recognize what looks like destruction is often the deepest act of love, and what looks like shadow is often the birthplace of light. Your power isnt in separation but in integration. You dont exist as two archetypes. Youre the circle itself — whole, eternal, indivisible.
