The Paris girl has in fact, stopped trying

I recently wrote about how the Paris girl seems to have stopped trying. Since sharing it here, I have aggressively kept people watching.

After several weeks sitting in cafés around the 6th pretending to read while inspecting every woman walking past me, I have further evidence the Paris girl has stopped trying.

Or more accurately, she has stopped looking like she tried. I’m not convinced all these outfits are 100% accidental because her trousers are the exact amount of too big and the kinda ugly shoe is kinda ugly in just the right way. Also that old cashmere sweater probably took 3 months to find on Vinted. But her outfit doesn’t need to be trendy or photograph well.

Here’s all the things I cannot stop noticing (while occasionally having a cig):

Trousers are getting enormous: zero interest in defining or highlighting her waist. Pants are so low and so long and so loose I’m even wondering how they’re held up. Gone gone gone is the “hourglass” silhouette

An oddly formal piece during the day: a silk skirt at 10 am or a sequin top at lunch. This week I saw so many evening bag with jeans. Paris is sooooo good at removing clothes from their intended context and I LOVE that.

Cardis buttoned in the wrong place like top buttons open and bottom ones closed and vice versa, or even one lonely button around the sternum fighting for his life. I’m sorry but I saw this one soooo many times it just can’t be accidental.

The worn out shoe: a leather loafer, old ballet flats or even fisherman sandals. The shoes really look special because the Paris girl WALKS. She has places to go!!

Also, sweaters are tied around the waist again!! Thought we were done with this one, but I keep seeing women with a random knits tied around their hips like they’re on a school trip.

The wrong socks: grey sports socks with loafers or white socks under black ballet flats. Counterintuitive right?? Swear to god once you notice it, you’re going to see it everywhere.
