“I am so glad I joined. It was something I was hungry for yet didn’t know I needed until I was there. What a restorative space. You’re such a wonderful facilitator. What you’re creating feels like a refuge in a noisy world.”

Allison

It’s about believing our feelings are wrong, so we have to escape them.

It’s about believing we’re not good enough, and wanting to be free from that shame, even if it’s only temporary.

It’s about believing we’re not allowed to rest and relax, so we use alcohol as a shortcut and as permission to have a break.

It’s about finding socialising overwhelming and exhausting, so using alcohol to override those feelings.

It’s about wanting a break from critical and overwhelming thoughts.

It’s about wanting to belong.

It’s about wanting to feel loved as we are.

It’s about such deep aches and longings they are hard to even name.

Yes, alcohol is the issue. And: there’s so much more to explore.

“I felt welcomed with such warmth and care. It offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to explore alcohol, womanhood and the sober journey through shared stories and connection.”

Sarah

We have 90 minutes together to allow for a slow and gentle pace. Many women who have joined have shared that they thought ‘how will I have time for 90 minutes out of my day?’ And every one of them said that they were so glad they created that space for themselves.

Slowing down can feel really hard. And often, when it feels most difficult: that’s when we need it most.

Some of the themes we have explored in previous circles are: how the seasons changing affects us, how we can prepare for winter, finding the gold in ourselves, and our relationship with productivity and rest. Self-compassion, connection and understanding are the threads always woven through each gathering.

If there is a particular theme or topic you would like to explore, please do let me know. I want these circles to be shaped by you and your needs.

Email hello@ellie-nova.com to book your first place for free.

“The circle was such a sweet and honoring group of women who brought so much wisdom, honesty, and heart. This is the real deal of a “meet you where you’re at” and “come as you are”-- a place to feel safe and to feel heard.”

Kristen

The circle is open to all women at any stage in your sobriety journey. Women join who are sober curious and just starting to explore their relationship with alcohol. Some join who are aiming to quit drinking and are looking for some accountability and support. And others join who are a year or many years sober and wanting community and connection with other women who are walking the same path.

It is so beautiful to be able to share our wisdom together and see the commonalities in our stories. To know we are not alone.

I am over six years free from alcohol myself, and still have so much to learn. It is is a continuous unravelling. I get so much from these circles and it is such a privilege to hear the wisdom of the women who join.

“I felt so held in Ellie’s women’s circle. We showed up as we were. It was a sweet space to explore our emotions and there were so many nuggets of wisdom. I will certainly attend another.”

Sarah

  • I lead a short arrival practice to settle and connect to our bodies.

  • We have brief welcome shares.

  • I read some poetry or prose to set the theme of the circle.

  • We each share - if we feel called - about the theme, or whatever is on our hearts. No feedback is given: we all listen as each of us speak with our full attention and presence.

  • If there is time, we will do some journalling and have a more informal share about what we’ve discovered.

We have clear guidelines that I send in emails beforehand and we agree upon at the beginning of each session.

Everything I offer is an invitation. I encourage you to check in with your own needs and body and only ever do what feels right for you. There is no obligation to speak or to share. Silence is welcome. Listening is welcome. Being present with us is more than enough.

On Zoom, 90 minutes
