Thus, after today (Monday), and other than the Venus-Saturn opposition on Friday, the Moon is driving the action of the week.
It goes like this:
Ahhh...and now we’ve found the big source of last week’s intoxication. At 5:52 AM ET, Mars squares Neptune. Watch for fanatics—religious, perhaps—along with actions fueled by drugs, delusion, or sexy scandal. Mars refers to war, btw. Neptune refers to oceans and navies. And because this square makes a provocative connection with You Know Who’s horoscope, words, messages, documents, or other revelations could be part of the story.
Moon sextiles Sun at 7:30 AM ET, striving for balance—and then goes void for 10 hours. Long weekend, perhaps? If not, you know the Moon void drill. Take your time getting started in the morning, and roll with the twists and flakes. Remember that crises which crop up during voids are often much ado about nothing. CHILL!
Stick to routine concerns, and note that in this airy void, your mind can handle sobering thoughts as Mercury trines Saturn at 11:26 AM ET. At the same time, Venus (money, art, women, worth) -- functioning with high efficiency in Libra (justice) -- gets a supportive boost via a sextile (easy connection) from Jupiter at 12:15 PM ET. So, no, adjudicated sexual abuser and current White House Occupant, SCOTUS will not entertain your second plea to not pay E. Jean Carroll the millions you owe her.
I’m honoring the offbeat Libra Moon void’s need for harmony, the sober mindset of Mercury trine Saturn, and the generous mood of Venus sextile Jupiter by celebrating Christmas in August and listening to December, the 1982 LP by George Winston. You?
I know what Moon void twist happened for Beth Owl’s Daughter today -- and you will, too -- as soon as you read her always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week -- the Ace of Pentacles.
At 5:45 PM ET, Moon plunges into Scorpio, seeking control of the narrative that the on-the-one-hand, on-the-other-hand Libra Moon generated. Moon in Scorpio seeks depth, substance, silence, and loyalty—and it travels free and clear for the rest of the day, building to a purge around midnight.
The midnight purge is sponsored by Moon’s square to Pluto at 1:01 AM ET, followed by the easy action potential of Moon’s trine to Mars at 2:29 AM ET. Twelve hours later, actions may be larger than life, as Moon squares Jupiter at 2:43 PM ET. Use this Moon in Scorpio day to dig deep, clean house, call the exterminator, and focus intently on whatever requires strategic planning and emotional courage.
At 4:34 PM ET, North Node exits Pisces and enters Aquarius, where it will be until March 2028.
A pause, while we discuss the North and South Nodes.
North Node represents a path to growth. In Aquarius, that growth comes through collaboration, innovation, objectivity, and a willingness to contribute our unique gifts to something larger than ourselves.
South Node reflects patterns that may be overdeveloped or no longer useful. In traditional astrology, South Node is a malefic, associated with decrease, loss and destruction. In Leo, this can include excessive pride, the need for recognition or validation, unquestioned loyalty to personalities, and the tendency to mistake individual will for the greater good.
On a mundane level, we are likely to see developments—and at times “releases”—involving political movements, alliances, technology, scientific breakthroughs, social networks, humanitarian causes, and the rights and responsibilities of individuals within the collective. At the same time, Leonine themes such as leadership, celebrity, entertainment, children, royalty, and displays of personal power may be diminished, disrupted or purged.
Working in tandem with Pluto in Aquarius, North Node in Aquarius invites us to move away from leadership centered on personality and toward more collaborative, future-oriented ways of organizing society.
A technical note on timing: I use the Mean Node, following the practice of my teachers Noel Tyl and J. Lee Lehman, Ph.D. Mean Node averages out the Nodes’ periodic wobble and moves steadily retrograde; True Node incorporates that wobble and can briefly move direct. Thus, True Node entered Aquarius—with South Node entering Leo—on July 27, while Mean Node makes the shift today.
Which is “correct”? We research! We observe what happens in the lives of people whose horoscopes are directly affected and see which timing proves most descriptive. I’m always open to reconsidering a technique if observation gives me good reason to do so.
One especially useful test case is the adjudicated sexual abuser/WHO, whose Ascendant is 29° Leo. South Node crossing Ascendant could coincide with a change in self-image, identity, literal appearance or vitality—and perhaps a health concern.
Another test case: Joe Biden has North Node at 29° Leo. With transiting South Node moving over his natal North Node, I expect a noticeable increase in news and public attention.
A third test case is Kamala Harris, who has Saturn at 28° Aquarius. North Node moving over Saturn suggests an increase in authority, strategy, ambition, responsibility, status and the exercise of power.
Scorpio Moon squares Mercury in Leo at 1:01 AM ET, possibly punctuating last night with obsessive thoughts and words that just won’t go away. Moon travels without interference for most of the day and into the night, building to a clash of stubborn will as the First Quarter Moon squares Sun in Leo at 10:48 PM ET. This activates the horoscopes of JD Vance and his boss, Jon Ossoff, Netanyahu, Israel, Kamala Harris, and the United States. Chill during the ensuing six-hour Moon void.
Moon soars into Sagittarius at 4:30 AM ET, lifting the mood and encouraging us to think big, speak truth, and broaden horizons. Days driven by Moon in Sagittarius favor travel, publishing, outdoor adventures and expressing your righteous opinion. Just remember that Sagittarius can overpromise, overdo and occasionally mistake bluntness for wisdom.
At 11:58 AM ET, Moon sextiles Pluto, adding focus and persuasive power to the quest. At 12:21 PM ET, Moon trines Neptune, favoring imagination, intuition, inspiration and vision. Expect a surprise or other bolt from the blue around 3:32 PM ET, as Moon opposes Uranus. Keep your options open—and your sense of humor handy.
Moon trines Jupiter at 3:26 AM ET, suggesting more, bigger, further—an expansive impulse that may encourage optimism, confidence or excess.
Then comes the reality check. Venus opposes Saturn at 8:43 AM ET, suggesting that part of yesterday afternoon’s upset may have involved money, values, women, relationships or aesthetics. We may expect stories involving controls, cuts and losses; women of steel; art, beauty and fashion; relationships; and commerce. What seemed abundant or promising under Jupiter may encounter a limit, price tag or consequence.
At 9:02 AM ET, Moon trines Saturn, followed two minutes later by a sextile to Venus at 9:04 AM ET. Perhaps that’s an opportunity to work constructively with whatever reality Venus-Saturn has delivered—accept the limits, make the adjustment, negotiate the terms and move on.
Sag Moon then travels without interference for the rest of the day, generating a fireball as it rolls down the mountain. Momentum builds. Point it somewhere worth going.
Moon trines Mercury at 3:26 AM ET, transmitting a word from our sponsor. Spend the day out and about. Enjoy the easy flow of Moon and Sun in a balanced trine, exact at 4:30 PM ET. You won’t notice the 29-minute Moon void, but you may notice an especially outrageous opinion or plan for world domination as Moon enters Capricorn at 4:59 PM ET, seeking to Make Things Happen.
Note that this is the last day of Sun in Leo. Leaders of business and state may seem to be having a moment of crisis as they seek to enact their regal edicts before Sun enters Virgo and favors the small, not so much the grand.
At 10:18 PM ET, Sun makes that grand exit, and Virgo season begins.
What can we say about Virgo? Well, it is an earth sign (as opposed to fire, water or air), and thus practical, with material concerns. It is also a mutable sign, as opposed to cardinal or fixed. What does that mean?
Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn; they need to come up with the idea and take action. Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. These signs need to organize and give form to the concepts pitched by cardinal signs. Mutable signs—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces—get to spread the word about the cool forms the fixed signs made.
Mutable signs are much more subject to change than cardinal and fixed signs. Think of a weathervane spinning in whatever direction the wind happens to blow.
Other Virgo tidbits: Virgo is ruled by Mercury. It is all about analysis, discernment, sorting, fixing and making things right. Virgo notices the details everyone else overlooked and asks what could be improved, streamlined or made more useful. It favors craftsmanship, service and practical problem-solving—and can drive itself and everyone else nuts when the quest for improvement becomes a quest for perfection.
In health matters, Virgo rules the intestinal tract and assimilation. If you have planets in Virgo in your horoscope and they are under a great deal of developmental tension, you may have issues with your digestive system, especially with how your system absorbs nutrition from food.
For the next month, Sun in Virgo favors sorting, editing, organizing, analyzing, repairing and attending to the small things that keep the larger machinery running. After Leo’s command performance, Virgo rolls up its sleeves and gets to work.
Your Saturday night date could be one of practical magic, as Capricorn Moon squares Neptune at 12:47 AM ET. The spell could break at dawn, as the goal-oriented Moon is opposed by Mars in national/emotional-security-focused Cancer. Competing agendas may demand action: getting the job done versus protecting home, family, turf or feelings. Twelve hours later, a possible block or control is encountered, as Moon squares Saturn at 9:21 PM ET. Diplomatic measures may be employed, as Moon squares Venus at 2:30 AM ET on...
...and however it landed, my advice is not to force the issue, given that Capricorn Moon is in a 26½-hour VOID. Another long weekend? And why not? Stick to routine, take care of business already in motion, and CHILL on launching anything you expect to develop according to plan.
Meanwhile, all of the people with planets at 29° Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio and Taurus will no doubt have something to say, as Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) reaches the very end of Leo. Famous last words, dramatic pronouncements, grand declarations and decisions from on high may demand attention. With Mercury at the end of the sign, there may also be a sense that a particular line of thinking—or narrative—has gone as far as it can go.
