Today the high-functioning Leo Sun connects with three of the four notes in that Basket case, striking quite a chord. At 2:54 AM ET, Sun opposes Pluto, reflecting power plays and purges involving leaders and/or energy resources. Here are some headlines from oppositions past. Next, Sun trines Neptune, prompting news involving leaders, oceans, ships, music, healing, drugs—and all those wonderfully Neptunian themes.
Meanwhile, Capricorn Moon keeps its eye on the prize, steadily climbing up that mountain. At 3:24 PM ET, it hits a wall—or a heavy-handed display of authority—or perhaps both, squaring Saturn. Interestingly, the next note in the Basket is Sun’s sextile to Uranus, favoring an inventive response, especially through groups, alliances, or technology. At 8:08 PM ET, Moon opposes Mercury, engaging the felon-in-chief’s Jupiter and suggesting another round of grievances over what’s fair, what’s legal, and who gets the last word.
Moon trines Venus at 2:11 AM ET and then goes void for 19½ hours. With this earthy combination, you could tend to routine practical concerns and enjoy the satisfaction of putting things in order. Astrologer Rockie Gardiner often opined that Moon voids were great for returning unwanted items. Otherwise, roll with whatever twists and flakes derail your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Forcing an issue is not advised.
A Capricorn Moon void may draw our attention to more than one effort to achieve a goal, likely involving status, bureaucracy, or administrative authority. CHILL and remember that Moon void dramas are often much ado about nothing -- curiously resolved once the Moon regains its focus, which it will do at 9:46 PM ET, when it enters Aquarius. Keep that in mind when reading about the White House Occupant’s busy schedule today: he’s speaking at Lindsey Graham’s funeral, and Netanyahu is in town.
If there was a perceived crisis during yesterday’s Moon void, it may have reflected a rare tension — a square — between Venus and Mars, exact at 3:09 AM ET. Venus — which refers to who, what, and how we need to love — is in Virgo, demanding precision in every detail. Mars — which refers to action and desire — is in Gemini, possibly using words as a coping strategy, a weapon, or a call to arms — but in ways that need to be clever, entertaining, or scattered. Sparks may fly, for better or worse.
You are more personally affected by this square if you have planets around 21 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces. That includes the United States, the White House occupant, dozens of high-profile American politicians and celebrities (e.g., Randy Rainbow), and... Pope Leo!
Why the exclamation re: Pope Leo? Because Beth Owl’s Daughter’s always-in-sync Tarot Card of the Week is the Hierophant, which Beth says could be a “papal stereotype.”
And so, per Beth’s prompting, I looked at Pope Leo -- and I’m glad I did.
Meanwhile, today’s Moon in Aquarius seeks fulfillment by recognizing the unique social significance of individuals within a group of like-minded souls. Arise, go forth, and network — and why not think about building something lasting from your collective great ideas. Though the mantra for Moon in Aquarius may be, “I love you, but don’t take it personally,” emotions are likely on the rise as Moon meets up with Pluto, suggesting a focused power play, purge or other intensity.
And yet, Moon’s sextile to Neptune at 6:14 AM ET may soften Pluto’s edge with imagination, compassion, and inspiration, while Moon’s trine to Uranus at 7:29 AM ET invites flashes of insight, plot twists, and unconventional solutions.
But wait, there’s more!
At 8:17 AM ET, the regal Leo Sun meets up with Jupiter, which expands whatever it touches. In Leo, Jupiter amplifies leaders, performers, confidence, pride, creativity, gold, generosity, and matters of the heart. You are more personally affected by this expansion potential if you have planets around 6 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius. That includes President Zelenskyy, and maybe — just maybe — Mitch McConnell. The last time we had a Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Leo was in July 2014...oh, those were the days.
Next up, at 10:27 AM ET, Moon opposes Jupiter. Did someone push their luck? Did a story, an emotion, or an ego grow larger than life?
Finally, at 10:35 AM ET, Full Moon shines a light on everything that has been building. Some of it may be fleeting -- let it go. Other stuff may be of greater consequence; you’ll know it when you see it.

In the experience of the United States, this Full Moon falls in the 5th house, illuminating matters of ambassadors, children, speculative ventures, entertainment, and all things associated with that house.
The Ascendant and MC are at the verrry end of their respective signs — Virgo and Gemini. With respect to how the nation is seen, and its leader (the MC), the wheel is about to turn — prominently so.
Neptune squares the MC. Who knows what’s really going on?
The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are “a child being born from an egg” (Aquarius Moon) and “the constellations shine brilliantly in the night sky” (Leo Sun). Astrologer Bill Herbst has written a unique book about the Sabian Symbols called The Oracle of Love. His interpretations specifically reveal implications for romance and intimacy. And since this Full Moon features a challenging pattern between Venus and Mars, with the Sun-Jupiter mash-up in love, love me do Leo, I thought you might enjoy his perspective:
For the Aquarius Moon - “a child being born from an egg”
Love brings the opportunity to re-birth ourselves, to put the past behind us and create a new sense of self-expression, self-image, and self-worth. All too often, however, this breath of fresh air proves temporary, and we eventually fall back into old patterns, habits, and imprints.

Translation: whatever illuminations hit the fan earlier, forces align to bring it under control. Next up: another day of Moon traveling without interference, this time supported by a trine to Mars (action, desire) at 5:26 PM ET. Chill for the next 15 hours, as the Aquarius Moon will be void.
At 8:13 AM ET, Moon enters Pisces -- a Water sign -- offering a respite from the chorus of planets scorching the earth in Fire and Air. Moon in Pisces seeks to work with impressions and ideals, with the understanding that All Are One.
And -- once again -- because this is how the patterns are set to unfold -- Moon has a long stretch before making its next major aspect. That gives Pisces themes room to develop without interruption, building in size and strength, like a snowball gathering momentum as it tumbles down a mountain.
Then, at 5:47 PM ET, Moon meets up with Uranus, ending the workweek with a shock. And then -- you guessed it -- we have almost 30 hours to wallow, drown, or float through a weekend largely driven by Pisces empathy -- or escapist tendencies. But no, it’s not a Moon void.
Rabbit, rabbit. It’s August 1st -- where did July go?
I don’t know, but this first day of August is going with the flow of the Pisces Moon. Enjoy the relative ease of communication suggested by Moon’s trine to Mercury at 10:58 PM ET.
A provocative morning, perhaps, as the sensitivity of the Pisces Moon is rattled by a square to Mars in “war of words” Gemini, exact at 5:32 AM ET. For those keeping an eye on Kamala Harris, we may have heard from her in recent days, as Mars crosses her Gemini Ascendant, perhaps sparking an initiative. Avid Readers may recall that bigger patterns in Harris’ horoscope suggest another turn in the spotlight this year. Yes, I wrote that months and months ago, so it feels like old news to me. But if you didn’t see it, it may be new to you.

At 8:33 AM ET, Moon squares Venus (don’t pick a fight with Mom) -- and then goes void for the next 8 hours. Chill!
At 4:36 PM, see if you notice how the pace picks up as Moon enters me-me-me Aries, looking to get something started. Not now, but RIGHT NOW. Its crusading, nothing-is-impossible drive is supported by all the planets in the Barbault Basket Case in the wee hours on...
...as Moon sextiles Pluto, meets up with Neptune and sextiles Uranus between 12 AM ET and 2 AM ET. It’s all going swimmingly, as Moon trines Jupiter at 6:20 AM ET -- wheeee -- and a trine between Moon and Sun at 1:24 PM ET suggests a steady burn. And yes, I appreciate that a steady burn may not be a happy thing if we’re talking about trees and temperatures.
Speaking of the land and Mother Earth, at 4:10 PM ET, Chiron the Wounded Healer goes retrograde in Taurus, where it will be until September 17th. Chiron in Taurus may bring a wound involving the earth into sharper focus -- watch the headlines -- especially with Moon meeting up with Saturn the Heavy at 7:21 PM ET.
And now, the news.
As I said last week -- and in a Zoom Chart Fest or two -- I expected last week’s Barbault Basket Case to be reflected -- not in a single event -- but in an irresistible wave. The planets involved in the Basket Case are Fire and Air, so high winds and raging wildfires -- tragically -- would be astro-logical. But there were high winds and high waters, too.
Against that backdrop, decades of burning “ancient sunlight” -- a/k/a fossil fuels -- are inevitably catching up with us. That link, FYI, takes you to The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight by Thom Hartmann. I read it over 20 years ago, and it permanently changed my awareness of How Things Work.

As anticipated, the White House Occupant continued to push boundaries, as he is expected to do again this week, given patterns in his horoscope. Heather Cox Richardson’s latest posts offer a sobering tally of the “accomplishments” of the Wreck-It-Ralph regime, including efforts to rewrite history, loot the national treasury, and transcend the rule of law.
In other words, pretty much what Sarah Kendzior predicted over a decade ago.

“India’s ‘Cockroach’ protests take on Modi with unlikely weapons: Sharp, irreverent humor and memes” -- which are exactly the weapons you’d want to use with Mars and Uranus in Gemini — and these tactics were anticipated in this forecast several moons ago.
Not only that, but...
They won.
Getting back to the sunlight...
